The closest international airport is at Nedumbasseri - Kochi in Kerala (111
km), about a 3 hour 20-minute drive by taxi via Kothamangalam,
Neriamangalam and Adimali; a little longer if you opt for Government or
private buses.
Madurai International Airport in Tamil Nadu (154 km) is easily accessible by
NH 85 via Usilampatti, Theni, Bodinaykkanur, Bodimettu, Muthuvankudi,
Chinnakkanal and Devikulam. A hired taxi may take 4 hours and 18 minutes; a
government or private bus will take a little longer. A longer but more scenic
route (231 km) from Madurai would be by NH 83 via Dindigul, Palani,
Udumalpet and Marayoor - through the famed Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary and
Marayoor sandalwood forest.
Coimbatore Airport is 158 km from Munnar - about a 4 hour 38-minute drive
by taxi via Karacheri, Senjerimalai, Udumalpet and Marayoor. Buses will take
a little longer.
There is no Railway Station in Munnar. The nearest is at Alwaye about 108 km away. Madurai Railway Station is 154 km by NH 85 and Coimbatore, 158km.
Munnar is accessible through a network of roads from all major cities and

From Kochi by National Highway 49 (now 55), Munnar is at a distance of 140
km, via Kothamangalam and Adimali. The way passes through natural forests
and there are two waterfalls, Valara and Cheeyappara, on the way.
From Madurai by National Highway 49 (now 55), Munnar is at a distance of
154 km, via Theni, Bodinaikkannur, Pooppara and Devikulam, climbing over
the scenic slopes of the Western Ghats.
From Coimbatore National Highway NH 209 to Udumalpet and then via
Chinnar and Marayur, Munnar is at a distance of 156 km passing through
Chinnar Wild Life Sanctuary, Thoovanam Waterfalls and Marayur Sandalwood
Reserve.
From Thekkady by State Highway 41, Munnar is at a distance of 85 km
through scenic locations of Idukki District
